AMUSEMENTS.
THE PATHE PICTURES. The new series of pictures at the Theatre Royal form a most/ excellent and' varied programme. In those illustrative of .scenery, "The Mecca . Pilgrims Journeying Through the Suez Canel" and "Scenes in Picturesque Smyrna," wero particularly interesting. Another very tine scene was that illustrating tho "Lake of Balaton," the waterfalls in which were singularly beautiful. "At the Seaside" was a very pretty seascape, and "Scenes and Customs in French Colonies" gave an excellent insight into the manner aaid customs of tho native tribes. Many of the ceremonies, especially those connected with religious rites, were most remarkable. The historical series, "A Tale of the Crusades," was very gocxl' indeed, as were those in lighter vein, and the dramatic series included in the programme. To-night the same bill wili be given. THE COLOSSEUM. There was a large attendance both at the matinee and evening performances at the Colosseum on Saturday. The current programme, which is a very interesting one, was repeated succpssfully, and it will form the bill for this evening. About 80 children from the Siimner Deaf Mute School attended hy the invitation in the afternoon on Saturday. THE CIXEPHOXE. At the Opera House on Good Friuay j night, the London Cinephone Proprietary will introduce for tho first time J H Christchurch the latest perfected singing, talking, and lauching pictures invention called the' Cinephone. It is claimed for this invention that not only the moving pictures of figures are given, but dialogue, songs, etc.. as if they were being listened to from human performers. The pian of reserved seats js now open at the Dresden.

' J At the Theatre Royal on £>aturday next, Miss Florence Bainos, who made M'ch a favourable impression on her pievious visit, will commence a season <>' spven nights with her veil-known piece "Miss Lancashire, Limited." Miss Buines has, it is stated, the support of a strong company. The box plan is at t> .■} Dresden. CHRISTCHURCH LIEDERTAFEL. The Christchnrch Liedertafel hnvo decided to give a Gemischter Abend at His Majesty's Theatre on Friday, April 20th. The dress circle and orchestral stalls will bo reserved for subscribers, but on this occasion the stalls and pit will be open to the general public. An excellent programme has been arranged, and in addition to other items. Mendelsohn's "Festegesang" will be given with the organ. ALL SEASONS' CARNIVAL. In connection with the All Seasons' Carnival, v.-Jiieh opens at His Majesty's Theatre on Easter Saturday, the 10th inst.. Miss Florence Baines has presented a prize of five guineas for th? best dressed doll representing the character of Mary Ellen, in the play of "Mi<v? Lancashire, Limite<l." A leaflet 'W-criimiji the costumes has been prepared, and can be procured at the Dresden.
