FIRES.
» OUTBREAK IN ASH BY BERGH'S PREMISES. A few minutes before 12.30 this. morning a police constable on thrty in Cashel street noticed through th« window a fire in a cellar in Ash-by Bergh's premises in Casliel street, and sent a passerby down to give the' alarm to the brigade. Th«j latter, under Superintendent Erck, were promptly on tho scene an<l effected an entrance at the back of the premises. They found th.it half a barrel of sawdust was on fire in tlio cellar against the woedsn partition of the engine room. It was blazing pretty freely and was just getting a good hold. The outbrr-ak was extinguished with the hand chemicals from tho motor chemical. Xot much J-α ma go was <kme, but tho outbreak would probably have- lc-:l to an extensive fire if.it had not been noticed in time.
