The rain will put a stop to threshing operations for a few days, but a fairly largo quantity of grain has already been put through the mills. The purchasing of wheat during tho past few days has been upon a considerable scale. The shipment of grain to London is restricted on account of the quantity of frozen meat, wool and tallow now being despatched, but some shippers who had- engaged space for oats, not being able to obtain, all their requirements of this cereal, are filling up with wheat. Since our last report sales amounting to over 50,000 bushels of wheat have been recorded, including 3000 bushels of Pearl at 3s 7d, 15,000 bushels of Tuscan at 3s 7d, 8100 bushels at 3s 6Jd, 8450 bushels at 3s od, 6000 bushels of Tuscan and Hunter's at 3s 7d, 3100 bushels of Pearl, Tuscan and Hunter's at 3s 7d. 4800 bushels ot Hunter's at 3s 7d, 3800 bushels at 3s GJd, 55-50 bushels at 3s fid. Oats are not being offered very freely, and more could be taken by buyers, though they are not prepared to give more money to induce growers to send forward larger supplies. Among tbo sales reported are 800 bushels of Algerians at ls 7d, 200 busnols good milling Gartens at ls 4d. 500 bushels of Canadians at ls 3id. 400 bushels of Gartens at ls3d. 1800 bushels of Danish at ls 2d. and 1500 bushels of Duns at ls 2d.
Oatsheaf chaff is dull of sale, and some of the new chaff being delivered is not in good condition and has been rejected. The price is nominally £2, an*! a sale is reported at 3Ss.
Cocksfoot is still slow of sale at quotations.
The price of butter has been rcelt'ced Id r-er lb all round.
