In a public school match, Prout, tho captain of tho Wesley College' team, scored 409, the fourth highest scoro in the world. Ho batted six and a half hcTuts, and his sido made 710 runs. This is an Australian school record. Playing at VTaddington on Saturday, Springfield defeated the home team by four wickets and lour runs on tho first innings. Scores: —Wadding ton (.W----tOates 27, A. Hewett. i:.} not nut, ii. LiUev 15, T. Imiis 11. G. Butler 10 and W. Lilley 10); 119 for sixwickets (C. Smith 39, L. Carter 38 not out, and J. Herbert 17j. W. Oatta and A. Hewitt for Waddington, and T. Starr and H. Newton for Springfield, were tho best of the bowlers tried.
