A SERIOUS OUTLOOK.
(rasas association telecbaii.) WESTPORT, March 2. .There are no fresh developments atGraruty Mine. All the openings are ■ sealed off, and drainage water is being run into the mine, but until there is a heavy downpour of rain, there will bo '.. little chance of flooding the mine. The official opinion is that the fire ,toay be extinguished in six weeks, but many miners hold to the opinion that it will he much longer than that before the fire is under control, and that unless there : s heavy rain shortly, the firo *»*y get too great a hold to be put oat at all. Most of the single miners left Westport by the Arahura to-day. It is. expected that some twenty married men "•ill be taken on at Denniston, and ■una others at the Stockton mino, ■"•aich has got somo special orders to falSl aa the result of the Grant ty fire.
