The annual mooting of tho Christohurch Diocesan Choral Association was held ia.st evening, tile Yon. Archi deacon AverLH pre-iding. Jt was recommended that the afternoon service he held as formerly at 3 p.m. owinj; to many niemlK-rs <>1 the choir not being able to attend tne " p.m. service. Tin? music all through had bet'ii* suiij; with vigour and accuracy, showing that great pains ha.i lieeu taken in the work vl preparation for the Festival. The thanks of the Association were due t-c the Kcv. father the Dean for granting tlie use ot the Cathedral for the services, to the ladies who had so kindly assisted at the high tea, and to tlic'ift'v. K. H. Shore lor preaching the annual .strmon. Tho committee expressed the hope that they would again be allowed to hold tin- practices in the Cathedral, owing t.) its central position. £>iuco tho last festival the Association liad sustained a great loss by the aeath of Mr Alfred Price, a prominent member of i->t. Matthew's choir and an active member j ol the Association since its inception in I ISB3. On behalf of the Association, tho committee had forwarded n letter oi condolence to the- vicar of St. Matthew's, the Rev. J. H. Rogers. Tho balance-sheet showed a crcdiu balance of €1 0s 7d. On the motion of the- Rev. J. A. Julius, seconded by Mr Hobbs,"the report and balance-sheet were adopted. Mr A. Miliar proposed that the hours of service be altered to 3 p.m. an-d 7 p.m. as formerly. The motion ivw seconded by Mr T. H. Beckett and carried. It was decided, on the motion of Mr Merton, seconded by Mr Millar, to recommend tho committee to appoint a sub-committee to make arrangements for the annual tea. Mr D. Rellhouso. was re-elected secretary, Mr T. H. Beckett treasurer, and Mi - X JK. Lake auditor.
