MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
Mr V. G. Day, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court, on Saturday. Thomas Keating, with one previous conviction within the past six months against him, was fined 10s and costs, in default 48 hours' imprisonment, on a charge of drunkenness, and was ordered to pay 7s 6d per week for medical expenses. One first offending inebriate was fined 5s and costs., iv default the usual alternative. • Charges against Martha Gray of assaulting a constable and breach of a prohibition order were adjourned. Robert Winter, 74 years of age, appeared on a charge of being a rogue and vagabond having no lawful means of support. The evidence showed that the constable who arrested tho man had found him seated in tho middle of a road at Lincoln. Tho defendant designated himself a travelling showman, and stated ho wished to go back to that occupation. Plis "props" consisted of a sot of pictures which he exhibited to the children at different schools. Accused was convicted, and sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment, the warrant not to issue so long as he remains in the Samaritan Home. An information against William Norman (Mr Donnelly) of being tho father of an illegitimate child, born in January, 1901, and 'having failed to provide for the child, was dismissed, after legal argument. Mr Wright appeared for the informant.
