Tho tennis courts and croquet lawn recently laid down by tho Lytteltou Borough Council on tho old Orphanage site. West Lytt-elt-on. the old and new Governor's Bay ro-adt. were formally opened yesterday afternoon by the Mayor of Lyttolton. (Mr C. Cook 1. There was a large attendance, including councillors, members of the Club, and many ladies. In lormally declaring the court open, the Mayor stat-od that this was the first trochoid recreation ground I.yttelton had ever had. An arrangement had been entered into between the Council and the Lytt-elton Lawn Tennis Club hv which the latter controlled tho ground, but that wonl<l not debar the public trom the use and enjoyment of the place.
