(special to "the press.") DUNEDIN, February 23. The Minister of Railways has a considerable amount of travelling and bard work immediately in front of him. On Monday he leaves for the South in company with Mr Ronayne, on an inspection of the Southland lines. On Wednesday he will officially open tho Gore-AVaikaka railway, going on to Lumselen in the afternoon. Thurselay and Friday will be spent in inspecting the Lake Wakatipu steamers, and in an examination of the Kingston-Lums-elon railway section, and on Saturday week Mr Millar returns to Dunedin. On Monday, the Bth, he leaves for Oamaru by the first express, and will remain there, deputations, etc., till the arrival of tlie second express, then going on to Timaru. On the following day lie reache-s Christchurch. The Minister, in continuation of his inspection of the South Island railway lines, leaves Christchurch on March _2th for tho AVest Const, and will call a halt at the Otira tunnel. Greymouth, Hokitika, AVestport, Nelson, and Picton will bo visited, and after threo weeks' overland travelling, a steamer will be taken at the last named port for Wellington, which has to be reached by the 20th prox.
