DUNEDIN WOOL SALES.
(press association telegram.) DUNEDIN, February 12. The third wool sale of the season was held here to-day, wher a catalogue of 72-19 bales was submitted. The number of bales offered was about 700 short of the total at the corresponding sale- in February of 19G8, but the sale was charnctorised by keener competition and higher prices generally. Buyers wero well represented from British, Continental, American, and New Zealand houses, and bidding was spirited throughout. Prices realised for good wools were more in favour of buyers than sellers, but mediums were a farthing to a halfpenny in favour of sellers, as compared with last January's sale. Faulty, waety. and. heavy-conditioned lots were fully a penny better than at last sale. Pieces and bellies, free from seed, were keenly competed for by Continental buyers, and realised prices fully up to January rates. Merino wool was not keenly sought for, and prices for many lota of those were fully a penny below January rates. This fact was attributed to the local mills having previously bought sufficient for their requirements for the ciuront year. Prices ruled as follows: —Merino super, 9d to 91d, medium to good.. 8d to Sid; inferior, 6J<t to 7Jd; half bred supex, 101 dto 12jd; medium to good 8d to 10d ; inferior, 6|d to 7£d; crossbred super 9}d to Hid; Rood, 7Jd to BJd: medium, 6Jd to 7d; inferior, 4Jd to 6d.
