The entries for the fifth eec-lsyine competition, to be held at LinoolnOoC lego, under the auspices of the New Zealand Utility Poultry Club, will dose on ilarch Ist.
Captam Sinker, of the Mission steamer Southern Cross, will give a lantern lecture on the work of the Melanesian Mission, at 8 p.m on Tuesday, at the Choral Hall. The Bishop will preside. A general meeting of the Welsh residents of Canterbury will be held v* the Art Gallery on Monday, at 8 p.m., to complete arrangements for the reception of the Royal Welsh. Male Choir.
The Woolston Band mil play at New Brighton to-morrow. Trams leave the Square et 2.10 and 2.38 p.m. The particulars of railway excursion fares to Ashburton, and train arrangements for the Aahburton Trotting Club Meeting, on the IBth and 19th inste., appear elsewhere. A meeting of master bakers to meet the Conference delegates will be held in the Employers' Association rooms to-night, at 7.30.
To-morrow special services are to Uβ conducted in the Linwood Congregational Church by ministers attending the Union meetings, the Rev. l>. B. Ashford, of KawMa, preaching in the morning, and the Rot. W. A. Evans in the evening. The Rcrr. A. L. MoDonald Aspland, of Wellington, ie to addrees a Sunday-school demonstration iv the afternoon.
Sister Avabamia, representative of Vedanta, of India and America, will hold dovotionaj altar service of vedanta on Sunday morning, at 11 o'clock, at the Druids' Hall, 113* Worcester street, and lecture upon, "Wb*fc is Prophecy, and Who are the PropfaetaP" In the evening, at 7 o'clock, the subject -will be, "Vedanta •versus Theoeophy, Spiritualism, Mental, Christian, and Divine Science, Hypnotism, Mesmerism, and Orthodoxy." Lectures are free.
