Writing yteterday, our correspondent said:—An ideal period of harvest weather has been experienced in t.io Durftekl district this week —bright, hot <ki\-s, with light'breezes from the northeast and north-west. Wednesday was about -the lw>ttest day experienced this season, but yesterday and to-day also vvero extremely warm. Although tno litiat about midday "has been very trying, tho fine spell has beon particularly tt-o!coine, enabling harvesting operations to be pushed on without interruption. The oats c-rop is about harvested, and on tho lighter lands wheat is in etook, while on a few farms a Ht» tlo wQieat is being threshed from stoolr. The yields continue to give, satisfaction and' in. many cases exceed expectations. Grass is moro abundant fhis season than it has been for several years past, «iid! in consequence stock of all descriptions are in -excellent condition, there being practically no stores in the district.
