Three rinks representing the Timaru Bowling Club played a friendly game with the Ashburton Club at Ashburton on Thursday, the scores being:—Timaru (Broadhead, Bruce, Orwin, Simmers, skip) 12 v. Ashburton (Priest. Clark, Lane, Manchester, skip) 19; Timaru (Aitken. Bradley, Shepherd, Gow, skip) 15 v. Ashburton (Bell. Merldins, J. D. Stewart, Campbell, skip) 19; Timaru (Partridge, Morgan, Gabites, Pringle, skip) 16 v. Ashburton (P. Stewart, Blackler, Christie, Craighead, skip) 24. Totals—Tirnaru 43, Ashburton C 2. . The bowling match, City Councillors v. the Sydenham Bowling Club, will take place this alternoon on the Sydenham green. The members of the Opawa Bowling Club and their lady friends will meet this afternoon at 2.30 on the green to afford an opportunity of saying good-byo to Mr A. S. .Uruce, the President of the Club, aud Mrs Bruce. Mr Xnd Mrs Bruce are startir__; on a holiday tour to Europe, and will bo away from Canterbury for some time. A presentation will be made to Mr and Mrs Bruce. Mr Bruce is the'first president of the Club, and in addition to presenting the members with a handsome pavilion has taken the greatest interest in the welfare of the Club.
