c An enthusiastic and well attended .meeting of Welsh residents of __ri_t~ cJiuroh was (held 'in the Scottish Society's rooms last evening- Mr Alfred Evans, who was voted to tho chair, explained tliat one of the objects of tho meeting was to arrange for a welcome to tilie members of the Welsh Choir, who _r© to visit this city in February. Ho suggested that a further step should bXtaken by re^uscif—ting the Welsh Society;- which 'had flourished in Chris tchuroh dome years ago. ' • It was- unanimously resolved to form a • Welsh Society, and Mr Wynn-Wil-liams, who had filled the position of prosdae.nt of the old society, was appointed patron. The office of president iras filHed by the appointment of Mr Alfred Evans, who had beon secretary of the old society. The following committee was elected:—Messrs D. James (hon. Eecrotory). J. Edwards, T. Lewis, J. Evans, F. Squires, W. J. W_iH_ms, Thomas Joseph (Spreydon), R. 'B. Jones (Dunsandcl), D. Jones, and — Bowden. The arrangements for the entertainment of the Welsh Choir were put in hand, and a canvass made in the room rc__ itted in a substantial amount being received. Another meeting will be Jield next week, when progress will be reported.
