At the Labour Party's Conference a.t Portsmouth, ■Mγ Kedr Hardio presiding, Mr Philip Snowden demanded that tho cost of dealing with poverty should rest on unearned, incomes. Mr R.amsay Macdonald's resolution opposing increased taxation of tho masses, urging a super-tax on Jarge incomes, special taxes on State-confer-red mononliso, increased estato and legacy duties, and a substantial beginning o{ taxation of land, values, was carried.
