(Received January 2oth, 11.50 p.m OTTAWA, January 25.
A lively scene occurred in the Dominion Houso of Commons owing to Sir Wilfrid Laurier attributing the Conservatives' successes in British Columbia to Mr Borden, Leader of the Opposition, telegraphing as follows:— "The Conservative Party stands for a White Canada, the protection of white labour, and the ..bsoluto exclusion of Asiatics."'
Mr Borden denied this, and explained- that he simply telegraphed to a newspaper that the party favoured a White Canada and absolute protection of white labour. Ho had asked for an explanation from the newspaper as to how tho telegram came to be altered, and promised to report tho facts to the House.
