DOMAIN BOARD.

A meeting of the Domain Board was held yesterday. Present—Mr H. J. Beswick (chairman), the Hon. C. C. Bowen, Messrs H. P. Murray-Aynsley, G. Witty, M.P., H. G. HI, M.P., B. P. Manhiro, S. A. Staples, W. Dunlop. G. Scott, "Wolfe, and the Mayor of Christchurch. The Chairman said that tho expenditure in connection ■with thb restoration of the park after the Exhibition had amounted to £650 12a Bd. If they agreed to eet off £100 as improvement to the park, they had still £550. ae tho expenditure, out of which they had received £4SO from the Government. It would be seen, therefore, that the Board had not got as much out of the Government as they should hare done. ilr Ell moved:—"That the statement of expenditure- be sent to the Hon. Gco. Fowlds." Mr Wolfe seconded' the- motion. Tho Ma}-or: With ,a request that be will make up the deficiency. Tho Chairman: Wo will leave that to his good taste. Mr Witty called , attention to one or two items which could bo set off c gainst the balance to debit spoken of by the chairman. The Chairman said that ho had allowed £100 for this. The motion was agreed , to. The date of the meeting of tho Board ■ivas altered to the first Tuesday in the month. The action of the secretary in arranging for a portion of the ground for a new cricket ground was approved. The Ladies' Golf Club wrote- forwarding a sketch of a new building they propose to ■erect as a pavilion on the ground occupied by them in place of the one now occupied by the club. It was moved: —"That the matter be referred to the Executive, with power to act." Mr Dunlop pointed out that groat caro should be exercised in granting permission to clubs, etc., to erect large buildings on the park. The Hon. C. C. Bowen said that if they allowed' the park to be dotted over with largo and conspicuous buildings, they would have a very different park from what they should have. The committee should inspect the site, and see •what vr.as wanted, and , then report to the Board.
