SELWYN COUNTY COUNCIL.

TO THE EDITOR OP "THE PRESS.'' Sir, —As the time is drawing near for tho triennial election of members for tho above Council, I, as a large ratepayer in the Malvern riding, sincerely hope we shall have a man of grit, good standing, and one possessed of sound common-sense, not afraid to speak, como forward and represent us, and not only in this portion of tho electorate, but for.tho w'nole. as the Council sadly nee-i reconstructing. When a meeting is held, most of the timo seems to be occupied in throwing mud at ono another, instead of .attending to their work—worse than a lot of eld women. Is it any wonder that the ratepayers have no confidence in them? The present Council is an absolute failure, akin to their past and present water supply schemes," and the sooner tho right class of representatives succeed the present members tho better. Ratepayers wako up.—Yours, etc., MALVERN. October loth.
