ANNUAL* MEETING

The annual' meeting; of tho Canterbury Automobile Association was held last ni_ht, Mr A. Morten presiding. t

Tho annual report noted a membership of 175, a gain for the year of 37. The receipts for tho same period amounted to £539 los lOd, which, with the balance brought forward from the previous year, gave a total of £731 3s lOd. The expenditure totalled £423 5s od, showing a cash profit on tho year's" working of £11G 10s sd. Reference was again made to the urgent need for a bridge over tho Waipara, and felicitous mention was made of tho successful reliability trial last season, and the fixture arranged for the present, year. Regret was expressed at the death during the year "of Messrs J. J. Sinclair and Geo. G. Stead. Tn moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet tho\chairman referred to the success attending the operations of the past year, and thanked the committee and secretary for th© assistance {riven to him in carrying out his duties. The motion was seconded by Mr D. Crozier and carried.

Tho following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President. Mr P. L. Hallenstein; vice-oresidents, Messrs W. E: Mills, R. English, A. Morten and Dr. Thaeker: committee., Messrs'E. H. James M. Steeds, R. N. Macdonald, R. B. Walker, A. L. Pratt, J. Troup and Dr. Diamond; hon. "treasurer, Dr. Neeley; secretary, Mr E. Nordon; hon. auditor, Mr R. Thompson. Appreciative mention was made of the "excellent services rendered by the secretary during the past year, and be was voted a bonus of £10 10s. Tho committee was recom-iended T to preparo plans of the chief roads in NoZealand; it was resolved to invite the co-operation of tho New Zealand Motor Club, and to arrange a tariff with the various hotels of the Dominion. . . • On-Mr Mills's motion, it was resolved that the annual meeting be held during the month of-Angust in each year, instead of -in September^' and that ;: the '.financial year cloaa.on the Slot of July. .
