THE SHIP ZEALANDA.
JUBILEE OF HER ARRIVAL.
After half a century's experience of the nps and downs of colonial life, a number of tho pioneers who came out to New Zealand in tho ship Zealandia held a day's outing at Stunner yesterday by way of commemorating tho fiftieth anniversary of the arrival of tho vessel at Lyttelton. Tho party, all told, numbered 65, and of these 47 were passenby tho vessel. The number of passengers who actually *arrived in tho ship was 444. and the known addresses wero 137. Forty-seven apologies for absence wero received, including one from tho Hon. E. C. J. and Mrs Stevens. The oldest member of .tho party was 84 years of age, and the "inrenile" a few months over 50 yean?. Tho day was an ideal one for tho celeand thestui'dy band of "oldest inhabitants" enjoyed tho outing immensely. At the Innclieon in the Oaf 6 Continental the ilov. W. S. Bean, Vicar of Addington. presided, and the secretary of tbeZealandia Association, Mr Walter Johnson, read the roll call. After lunch the male members of the gathering emoked the pipe of peace, and the picnielrers broke up into groups and strolled alons tho foreshore and in other directions, exchanging reminiscences of the early days. _ In the afternoon they were entertained at afternoon tea "by Mis William Hams. During tho day a photograph was taken of tho group,* which will eventually adorn the walls of the rooms of tho Old Colonists' Association. Sinca the arrival of the Zealandia one diamond wedding and three golden weddinjrs have been celebrated among the settlers who arrived in her.
