1 Mr H. W. Bishop. S.M., presid'ad at tho Magistrate's Court yesterday. Four first offenders for drunikeniiess iverv oeih fined as ajid costs, in default 24 hours' imprisonment. William Justin, Cunningham, John Frederick Bethka, and John Atkinson, second cffeiuLors, were each fined 10s and coste, in default 48 hours' impsusonmont. Andrew Pattern pleaded guilty to a charge of committing a grossly indecent act in. a public place. Tho Magistrate remanded Mm till Saturday, and ordered that the gaol surgeon should' keep him under observation. CIVIL CASES. Judgment was given for plaintiff, with costs, by default, in tho following cases:—'Oyclopredia Gamrpsny (Mr Flcshor) v. Ohas. Keay, £1 13s; same v. Samuel Payne, £2 3s; T. G. Fox (Mr Leathern) -v. William McDougal, £2; Merchants and Traders' Agency, Ltd., assignees for Rddloy and Son (Mr Kowe) r. A. Millar, £2 8s 3d; Fletcher, HumpJrreys and 00. (Mr Huntex) v. W. Spenoe, £3 Is 9d; sa.me v- John Monk, £2 8s 8d; Robert Geddis v. Andrew Scott; £3 6e lid; Trent Bros., Ltd. v.G. H. Bryant, £9 11s 2d. i N. L. Thompson "was ordered to pay Rargcod, Son and Ewen (Mr Uphaan) £10 3s 6d. at the rate of 5s per weeik, on. a judgment summons, or go to gaol for one week. Patrick McSwooney claimed 14s from W. 11. .Corrigan, for screwing sheet ironon to a fence. The case was only plaintiff's -word against defendant's, and, judgment wee giren for defendant, •eaoh part} , to pay his own costs.
