TRAMWAY AGREEMENT.
THE WELLINGTON DISPUTE.

WELLINGTON, September 25. , Tho agreement in connection with tho dispute between the City Ctouncil and its tramway employees provides for payment to motormen of Is ljd and Is Id per hour, according to grade, arid to conductors^of Is and lljd. The agreement covers the wholo of the employees in the tramway service. Provision is mado for payment for overtime at the customary increase; motormen and conductors working "straight shifts" shall bo entitled onry to time and a half for overtime worked after midnight on Sunday; except emergency linesmen and pointsmen, time and a naif for all employees included in tho agreement; motormen and conductors booked for duty on Sunday shall receive a minimum payment of two hours at sinio and a half rates; on Good Friday and Christmas Day, double time for all employees included in tho agreement. Car equipment adjusters and car cleaners shall work statutory holi_»y_ and public liouidays and shall receive a Holiday of ten consocutivo working days in each year on full ordinary pay. Artisans ahali receive ordinary timo payfar ail statutory holidays, and in addition shall be paid ordinary overtime ior ail time worked on suca holidays. Artisans shall receive not lees than twenty-four hours' notice of a. holiday. All other employees shall work on public and statutory holidays, and instead of such holidays snail bo entitled to eight consecutive days in each year as a holiday on full pay. Any employee reported by the public shall reccivo notification of any charge involving dismissal, suspension, or loss of standing, within lorty-cight hours after receipt of tlio report by tho department, and tlio enquiry shall bo co_imciiced within forty-eight hours after the employee is notined, all departmental reports to bo in tho hands of a departmental officer within two days from the alleged offence, and t_«j employee concerned shall bo notified thereof. It shall be a condition of employment of ali employees that they -hall join and remain members of-the union. If any employee joining the service shall neglect to becomo a member of tho union in the timo specified, he-shall bo dismissed. If any unionist shall voluntarily resign from "tho union, he shall bo liable to dismissal unless he re-joins tho union within* ono week. An Appeal Board consisting of ±ho tramways committees shall be appointed. In tho event of any disagreement between tho Corporation and tho union, concerning the suspension or dismissal of any employee, it may be referred to tho Board by either parfc\y and tho Board, after hearing ovidence, shall finally determine the matter.
