MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
0 Messrs-S. A. Staples and W., E. Samuels, .l.P.'s>. presided at the Magistrate's Court yesterday. . Four first offenders for drunkenness' were each fined 5s and costs. May Thornton, a second offender, was fined 10s and coats. John Griffiths (Mr Alpers) was remanded till to-day on a charge of using obsceno lan_ua^e. , Arthur Albert Vincent was charged with, on August 19th, constructing* a drain - under a footpath in .Forfar street, St. Albans, without tho writteiTconsent of the Council. Mr Fisher appeared for tho City Council. After hearing th© evidence, the Bench impased a fin© of 5s and costs. Max Bunzel (Mr Leathern) charged Marie Kieiii© and Thodor Kieni© (Mr Cassidy) with having assaulted him. It appears that, Mrs kienie accused complainant of stealing £1. H© denied that he had taken the money, and a wordy warfare ensued, which eventually led to Thodor Kienie taking a hand in the affair and punching Bunzel in the eye. The Bench imposed' a fine of 10s each, and coats. LYTTELTON. .„ • Captain Marciel, J.P., and Mr G. A. Lewin, J.P., presided at the Lytelton Magistrate's Court yesterday. A woman applied for a prohibition order against her husband, who opposed the granting of tho order, and 1 promised to keep away from hquor. Th© Bench decided to give him another chance and made no* order.
