The 'Farmers' Union Advocate," in mentioning the visit of a number of fanners to the 'Momohaki State farm, says:—"The visiting farmers took groat inU-rest- in the grazing experiments which are going on (the feeding ol which will this year bo carried on m-ht through the wjntcr) and as most tanners will soon have to top elrcss their pastures, if they do not renew them in rotation, they "one and all carefully examined the plots. The. first plot treated with ground lime, costing _!-_., shows a loos of £1 Ifis lid. -lie greatest gain so far is the plot topdressed with superphosphate three cut., sulphate of potash one quarter, costing IDs, showing a gain of £1 9s iti two seasons. The next was super-jj.i<-.K>hate alone costing 15s, gain of .__>_ ; so that the addition of the potash showod that the expeiieliture e>f 4. on that manure just returned a similar amount. Basic slag, costing lis, only showed a gain of 13s. So evidently superphosphate for the first two seasons is better suited to the land. Possibly, however, this will not be so great towards the one! of the experiment, as tho super, is more readily taken up by the plant."
