—Ju- « CHEVIOT. The bachelors of Cheviot gave their annual ball on Friday evening. Tho function wae very kx&oly attended, many coming from a di&tanco. An energetic committee, with M«*sre Gaarder and Paton as joint eecrebaries, spared neither time nor expense to bring this annual gathering- to a successful issue, and are to be congratulated on their efforts. . The ordinary monthly meeting of tie Mackenzie Domain Board whs held in the Town Hall on Saturday afternoon. As Mr G. W. Crampton, ha-ring left the district, had resigned his offi*s" as chairman of the Boardj Mr George Forbes was appointed chairman for the remainder of the year. The chairman reported having purchased a number of ornamental trees for planting in the Botanical Reserve near tie township. The question of appointing a ranger to look after the different plantations and to do extra work, such as planting, felling, fencing, eto... was fully disoussed, and deferred until next meeting.
