AWARD IN THE METAL WORKERS' DISPUTE.
In connection with the disDute between the Canterbury Metal "WorkOTs , Assuteii'te and the employees, tlie following award has been delivered , by the Arbitration Court:—(l) The recognised hours of work shall bo 48 hours per week. (2) The hours for night workers shall be similarly nrrnnged in ea«h establishment. (3) The minimum rotes of wajros shall be: Labourers, strikers, ynrdmen and fett&era Is' per holt*-, machinists Is Ofd per hour. (4) Men , employed as holders-tip on nil water-tight work, furnacing.and flanging, boiler work, shall be paid at tlio rato of Is lid per hour; when employed on any dock or slip work they shall bo paid , at the rate of Is 2d r per hour ond- Iβ a day extra for dirt money. \5) All furnace men working cupola and annealing furnaces shall bo paid) at tlte rate of Is l*d' per hour. This rate shall be paid to an annealing furneceman diiring such time as he is employed firing-up. (6) Workers under the age of 21 years shall be paid at the following minimum rates:—Under and up to 16 years, 10s per week 16 to 17. lot; 17 to 18, 20s; 18 to 19, 255; lp to 20, 30s: 20 to 21, 40*. (7) AH time worked' beyond' 48 hours shall bo pakJfor at the rate of time and a quarter for the first two hours finds time find a half aft?rwar<lß. Koch day shall stnnd by iteelf. All work done on Xew Year's Day, Easter Monday, King's Birthday and Anniversary Day, shall Ix 1 paid for at the rnt-e of time and a half. On Sunday, Good Friday, hnbour Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day double rates. For youtJis up to the age of 19 the ovortime rate to be Pd' per hour. (S) Travelling expenses nnd living expenses to be paid for country work, timo to count from time of leaving the shop till return, but no more than eight hours to be paid for travelling on any one d-ay. (°) The holidays aboil bo: New Year's Day, Good , Friday, Easter Monday, Labour Day, King's Birthday, AinnrveTsflry Day. Christmae Day and Boxing Day.
