OLD LANDMARKS.
TO THE EDITOR OF "THE PRESS." Sir,—ln your article "Tho Passing of a Church," it is said tliat the earthworks on Onawe, built to re-.i-t Kauparaha (about 1830), are perhaps tho oldest works of man remaining in Canterbury. May I point out that the earthworks of Kaianohia aro more than a century older, whilst a few mounds and terraces mark the sito of the o.d pah Nga-toko-ono. which was a ruin on the arrival of tho Ngaitahu in thesa parts.—Yours, etc., FRANK DUNNAGE.
