RAILWAY SERVANTS' GRIEVANCES.

I _ ♦ , (PRESS association telegram.) AUCKLAND. June 1. The president and general secretary of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Se<rvantiS (Messrs A. W. Veitch and M. .1. Mack rcs-pootivolv) were entertained by the Auckland branch at a 6mok« : cori-xirt on "-Saturday evening. These wero sntbmittcd to the Minister in January last, and were practically all refused. Thoy requested another interview, ns in the first one they had not had time to put tho whole oi their _requirements properly before tiie Minister, but tuey mot with another fiat refusaJ. What tho council* now proposed was to place th<»ir demand. by circular among members of rariiamen't and of different branches of the Society. These demands included, among other thir.<-*s a general increase in wages owing to tho incn__ed oost of living, a unsvr—*=r*l iS-V-TUT'-as prevailed in other branches of industry, full civil and polu-c_i iigh.o wad better facilities ior promotion from one grade to another. He submitted that all these things we-re theirs by right, and should bo given.
