WRECK OF A SAILER. United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright. NEW YORK, May 8. The Peter Rickmers, a largo sailer, was wrecked off Long Island, America. Her crow, numbering 100. wero rescued by means of a land line, after imminent peril. [The Peter Rickmers was a large, four-masted ship of 2926 tons register, built at Glasgow in 1889 by Messrs Russell and Co., and was ownod by the R. C. Rickmers Ship-building, Freight, and Rice-mills Company, of Bremcrhaven. This company are the owners of a big fleet of sailing ships and steamers, includiug tho five-masted auxiliary ship R. C. Rickmers, 5548 tons, tho largest sailer afloat. A vessel of tho size of the Peter Rickmers usually carries a crew of about 35 to 40 all told. Tho number mentioned in tho cable, namely, 100, can hardly be correct, unless, as is usual in the Rickmer sailing ships, a large number of boy apprentices being trained as officers, was carried.]
