RAKAIA.

The last meeting of the Rakaia Road Board was attended by all the members. The Hororata Public Hall; Committee wrote with reference to tho maintenance of a public drain running thiough the Hall paddock. It was resolved that the Board keep tho drain and stop banks clear of goreo provided the Hall committee keep the gorse hedge adjoining the drain reserve trimmed once a year. It was decided that the Boa id's "surfacemen should be paid sixpence per day extra when their work compelled them to camp away from their own homes. At the annual meeting of ratepayers, Mr R. Xowcll Bealey presided, and only three ratepayers in addition to the members of tho Board were present. The surveyor's annual report was read, ateo the balance-sheet and other annual statements for the past yea,r duly certified to by the AuditorGeneral. After a brief discussion on the birds' nuisance it was resolved that the accounts be passed.
