A delegate who visited Broken Hill gave the Presbyterian Assembly. a lurid picture of the irreligious condition of the place. There, he eaid, the forces of ovil were organised against. Christianity as in no other city of the Commonwealth. There was there an, aggressive and almost triumphant Sociailis>m that made scorn of sacred things. Children were gathered into schools on Mondays and taught to beware of the Church and ministers, whilst meetings of labour unions were held on Sundays.
