LYTTELTON.
The LyttcHon Borough Council met on Wednesday night. Present —Tho retiring Mayor (Mr .S. R. Webb), the Mavor-ekvt (.Mr C. Cook), and ConncillorJ W. RadHiffo. F. J. Page, W. T. Fos-ter. N. C. Sihumr.chor. J. R. Webb. M. J. Miller. C liollis, and F. W. Anderson.
The retiring Mayor took the customary declaration ot'the Mayor-elect, who UiVn ns-r-umed ths chair. A letter from the Canterbury Seed Company asking to bo allowed to connect with the water main at Heathcoto for firo prevention purposes was referred to the- Water .Supply Committee with power to act. Mr G". Hili wrote, asking for anothor street light in Oxford street, and offered to give the use of a lamp for tho purpose. The letter was reterred to tho Lighting Committee to report. Tho Finance Committee- reported that receipts since last meeting had been £24-5 lls 3:1. The tender of Mr J. Smart was accepted for painting roofs on iho Council's property. Tho following chairmen of committees were elected:—Works committee, Cr. Hollis; Water Supply Committee-. Cr. Page; Abattoirs Committee, Cr. Schumacher ; Fire Prevention Committee, Cr. Radcliffe. Cr. Schumacher was elected to till the vacancy on tho Works Committee caused by the election of Mr C. Cook as Mayor.
