A meeting was held at Bealey by those members who were proceeding from Canterbury to Ot.ira.. but who were- detained by the inclement weather %nd tfoo "VYaima,kariri boms in high fio-cd. The meeting was a most enthusiastic one, and proved a great snoccGs. The Hon. C. C. Louiseon, M.L.C.. oecu-cied the chair, supported by Mrs K. J.'Seddon. TQie tcast of '"The King" was proposed by itho chairman, ajid duly responded to. "'The East and Wcet Coast Railway" was next proposed, also by the Chairman, and M«'t3sre Qua no ajid Howland responded. 'Mr Ka : ye, in an interestingepeecih, proposed "The Parliament of Xew Zealand,"- which was replied to by the Hon. John Banv Sir William Steward, M.P., and Mr D. Buddo, M.P. •
His Lordship Bishor> Grimes proposed "The West Coast- Pioneers," and Messrs A. D. Dobson, A. P. Willixms, and Henry Allen responded. Tho meeting concluded amidst mucih enthusiasm.
