THEATRE ROYAL.
The members of the Pollard Juvenile Opera Company appeared last night at tie Theatre Koyal in what for here, so far as they are concerned, was quite a new departure. The programme, which consisted entirely of vaudeville items, waa well carried out, though it was somewhat too lengthy. One of the most successful of the numbers was a clever sketch by Mr and Mrs Harry Quealey. The latter, especially by her excellent, singing and dancing, made the item stand out very strongly. She was ably assisted by Mr Quealey. Miss Minnie Topping and Mr Charles Albert did a capital sketch, iotroduoing "it's a Lovely Day for a.VtalK," the dance incidental to which went well. Miss Topping was also very good indeed m & coon song, the ballet being also capitally danced. Miss Leila Jeffs, in addition to singing a ballad well in the first part, was heard to advantage in "My Illinois," which she sang instead of Miaa Topping. Master Bertie Nicholson quite took the audience by\ storm in his numbers, and he had to respond to a triple encore. Little Alma Aldous was excellent in her song, '•TwitTwit," and with her sister, Ivy, gave a sous and dance capitally. Miss Ivy Aldous was very successful also in the latter number. Mr Charles Albert contributed quite a budget of items, and was excellent in all, particularly in his monologue. Master Norman Mudford sang "Taps" vory well, and also "Cherry Blossom," and Miss Cissy O'Keefe was enthusiastically encored for her numbers, which wore sung with much success. Miss Daisy Mendoza was heard to considerable advantage in "G.P.0." Another clever item was Miss Ivy Akkrus's "My Daffodil,' - her dancing excellent. Tin , programme closed with tho pretty Doll Ballet and the song and dance "Zuyder Zee." The orchestra, under Mr Brahms, remdered good service during the evening. This afternoon the farewell matinee performance of "Blue Bell in Fairyland" will be given, end in the evening the vaudeville programme will be repeated*, which will close t!he season here.
