SOUTH AUSTRALIAN COMPLAINTS.
""SPEECH BY MR PRICE.
United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received April 26th, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, April 24
Mr Price, Premier of South Australia, addressing the Liverpool Reform Club, said that eight hours of Australian work equalled ten in .England.' He feared that the Liberals contaminated the Imperial movement by forcing it into a narrow groove. Australians believed that the laberals in England were less friendly to them than- they ought to be. He complained that the State Premiers were excluded from the Colonial Conference, adding that the Federal Premier did not represent the whole Government functions. He complained bitterly, of the Imperial veto on the South Australian Bill refusing mining leases to Asiatics. The Liberal Government,,.ho said, had no right in that connection to ask an Australian Government to substitute "aliens" for "Asiatics," since .colonists there did not exclude Europeans. Although South Australia had been described as insignificant, it nevertheless meant to insist on its rights. Australians felt that in foreign policies the Literals did less good for the colonies than the Conservatives. "Wo doubt the Liberals," he said, "so far as the colonial policy is concerned, ami I think it advisable to call together a council at which the Australian States should be able to do something in regard to making treaties which bound them."
