SALVAGE OPERATIONS.
(press association telegram.) WELLINGTON. April 24
Tho Union Steam Ship Company despatched the Penguin at six o'clock this evening for the wone of the mishap to the Taviuni. Mr T>aniels, foreman of tho company's repairing department, is a passenger. The Penguin takes pumping machinery and gear necessary for the carrying out of salvage operations. Tho tug Terawhiti will not be sent.
Tho Union Company has been advised that tho engine-room of the Taviuni is flooded;
