PRESS TRIBUTES

LONDON, April 23
Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman's death was received with great sorrow throughout tho United Kingdom.
Messages of condolence have been roooivod from King Edward, the Prince of Wales, Mr Balfour, leaders of all parties, tHo Lord Mayor, public bodies, Sovereigns of other countries, and colonial and foreign Governments. Flags wero lowered on many public buildings.
Tho Press tributes aro unanimous in remarking on tho general affection and esteem in which ho was held, duo to the simplicity of his character, his self-abnegation, and his loyal and persevering service to the State.
Tho first part of the funeral service will be conducted in Westminster Abbey at noon on Monday. The burial wild foe at Moigle, Perthshire, on Toesday.
The "Daily Mail's" Copenhagen correspondent reports that King Edward remarked:—"Sir Henry CampbollBannerinan was a faithful servant to his country. I am truly sorry he ia gone."
"Th© Times," in discussing the ooming debates on stormy questions in Parliament, says:—"W© may miss Sir Honry Campboll-Bannorman's pacific and tactful presence, and his cheery common-sense."
The "Daily Chronicle" emphasises his sincerity and many triumphs of tact.
Tho "Daily News" praises his transparent honesty.
Tho "Daily Tolegraph" comments on tho late Prime Minister's candour and consistency.
Tho "Standard" bays he always played with the cards on tho table.
Tho "Daily Mail" and tho "Morning Post" oulogise his keeping foreign affairs, Indian policy, and the army and th© navy on national linos, outside party controversy.
