WELLINGTON, April 23. j A dispute between the Wellington j Stone-masons' Union and the employj era is being referred direct to the j Arbitration Court to have an agree- ' ment arrived at between tho parties made tho basis of a.n award of the Court. Tho .".greenient provides that a full week's work shall consist of 45 hours, five days of hours each :.nd from 8 a.m. until 11.4-5 a.m. on Saturdays. AH journeymen stone-masons shall be paid not 1-e-i. than is 8d per ■hour. For the full week's work of 4o hours the wages shall not be k_~s than £3 los, lost time to Ik. ccdmtcd at the rate of Is Sd per hour. There shall be no piece work. Overtime .<hail bo paid for at the unt: of time and o quarter for the first four hours, and time and a ha!i afterwards, double time to be paid for the following holidays:—New Year's l>av, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Good Friday. Foster Monday, Labour Oay, and Sundays. No overtime shall be worked while competent labour U idle, except in eases of emergency, ivnployer.s shall erect suitab'e sheds for their employees nnd provi-V toiling water at lunch time for those who require it. The proportion of apprentices to journeymen shall not exceed one apprentice to every five journeymen,. Tlie wa.ges to be paid to cp-pr entices for the fi:s>t year shall bo lO*., second year los, third year £1, fourth year £1 os, and fifth year £1 10s per week. Dealing with country work, the agreement says that when the distance requires workmen employed on country work to sleep away from their homes, an additional allowance of 15 per cent, upon the amount of their wages for the time so occupied shall be paid to them, _uid their employer shall also provide them with tews or other suitable sleeping , accommodation..
