CASUALTIES.
A serious accident happened nt Cheviot on Monday. The horse in a qic in which wore Jlissre Da Won ana Brown, bojt-ed, and the axle of the vehicle breaking, the-ladies were thrown cut. -Miss Brown, who is a daughter of Mr D. Brown, of Ambedey, lros dragged by the roms for same distance. She was taken homo to Amberley l>y the owning train. Mrs ElTzabeth Scarr, residing in Aloester street, was admitted to the hospital yesterday afternoon .suffering from a fractured ankle. Mr Hastilow. chief engineer of tho Victoria, was removed to the hospital this morning sufferrnt* from blood poisoning, and died tlireo hours after admission. PALMERSTOX X., April 21. Henry Kruse, a niiddle-aged man, was killed at Aslihurst by a fail of earth in a metal pit. WELLINGTON, April 21. At Masterton 5 - est<.'rday, IvJward T. Meredith, aged 19. the son of the late Richard Meredith, spent the evening at the residence of Mrs Edwin Meredith, Upper Plain, with Dr. and Mr& Dawson and Mis 3 Meredith, apparently in perfect health and high spirits. After supper, he proposed to have a bath, and went into the bathroom, from which shortly after the sound of a shot was heard. Doctor Dawson found the youth dead. No cause is assigned for the deed. BLENHEIM, April 21. The verdict m the Scott Harding cae<> was that death resulted from a fa.ll on the footpath, ard that no blame was attachable to anyoaie.
