MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

Mr H." W. Bishop presided at t!.. Magistrate's Court on Saturday. William Fielder, who came to tow a foe-the holidays, pleaded guilty to having been found by night in the enclosed yard of George Hickmott. He v. as c©iivie__d and die-charged. James Craig and Mary Kerr, for whom Mr Donnelly appeared, pleaded guilty to a chargo of having committed a. grossly indecent act within view of the public in Hereford -street. Each was sentenced to 4S hours' imprisonment, with hard labour.

Tho business at the Lyttelton Court ; on Saturday was dealt with by Metf-srs J. T. Brice, J.P., and C. Feriicr, J.P. Frederick Hall, on remand, charge, with attempting to murder Alexander James Muir, on March 7th, by sJic-01----ing him with a revolver, wals again remanded until Friday next, the 24th ; inst., when tho case will be gone on ! with. It is expected that Muir. who ! is making a good recovery, will bn ' able to appear to givo evidence on : that date.

Duncan Linton, a fireman engaged on the steamer Manuka, was charged with having, on Thursday night, on the passage of the steamer from Wellington to Lyttelton, disobeyed lawful commands, and with having assaulted Aleck Osborn, the boil.i-niakir Accused pleaded guilty, and was fined 40s, in default ono months' imprisonment, on the first charge, and 1:0s. in default one month, on the second charge, and was ordered to pay costs 7s.

On Good Friday, Mr H. W. Bishop. S.M., hold a. sitting of the Police Court at tho Police Station. A female first offender charged with having boon found drunk, was convicted and discharged. Frc-d Burrows was fined. 20s, in default, -IS hours' imprisonment, for having been found drunk whilst in chargo of a horse and cart in Colombo street, Sydenham, on Thursday evening; and on a charge cf having driven a vehicle without lights, he was convicted and t/ischnrgsd. In tho c&rt he was driving waa found a woman who was supposed to have fallen off tho cart, and who was so badly hurt about tho head that she had to be taken to ihe hosiiital.
