There is an extraordinary rush of American farmers to Western Canada.

(The rush of American farmers to Canada dates from 1896, when a new advertising campaign was introduced into the United States. In the first yeaT of the new order of things 2412 Americans came to Canada, by 1899 the figures had reached 11,945; by 1903, 49,47 a; and by 1906, 57,919. In the ten years ending J"™, 1906, 272,609 people left the United States for Canada, and of the applications for homesteads in 1906, 29 per cent were from Americans.) HELIUM. LONDON, April 16. Professor Dewar explains that the reported solidification of helium by Professor Ohnes, of Leyden, was due to the fact that helium treated got got mixed with a small percentage of hydrogen, consequently the liquefaction and solidification of helium was not achieved.
