MOTOR CYCLE RECORD BROKEN,
Covered in dust and bearing many other evidences of a long journey from Ihinodin on his 3} h.p. Triumph motor cycle/ Mr S. R: Stodman arrived in ChrisWaurch on Thursday afternoon, Having lowered hie previous record for the distance by 3hrs llmin. Mr Stedman left North-East Valley, Ihmedin, at C.lo a.m., arrived at Oamaru at 9 o'clock, left Oamaru at 9.7, arrived Timaru at 11 o'clock, left Timaru at 11.10, arrived Ashburton 1.35, left Ashburton 1.45, and arrived at the Koyal Hotel, Christchurch, at 4.4 o'clock, the actual timo for the distance of 265 miles being 9hrs 49min. His previous record "was 13hrs. '. Speaking of his ride after arriving in the city, Mr Stedman said the roads ■were fairly good, although a little rongh in places. At Hinds, Mr Stedman was unfortunate to have a spill, bending the pedal of his machine, also the footrest. Effecting repairs occaeioneH a little loss of time. This -was the only untoward incident.
