I ——« \EW ZEALAND AMATEUR ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association was held last evening. .Present — Messrs W. G. Atack (chairman), H. S. Batchelor, C. J. Cooper, D. Hamber, J. E. Olliver, and J. E. Green (hon. secretary). Apologies for absenoo were received from Messrs E. Nordon aad G. H. Mason. The Canterbury Centre asked that the propose*! alterations to the rules should bo hold over till it had had an opportunity of discussing them, while the Wellington Centre asked that the matter might be held over till after the Conference of Centres, to be held in Wellington in February. It was decided to proceed with the consideration of the alterations, which were -adopted with some amendment*. The amended rules provide that no person shell I>e eligible to represent a club on a Centre or act as a councillor, whilst holding any paid appointment in a professional club or Association, or while under suspension or disqualification, while a Centre secretary is not permitted to act as secretary to any sports body controlling professional sport solely. * The number of members to be elected to the. Council was altered to seven, the president and 'vice-president being elected at the annual meeting. This clause provoked jonic discussion, a proposal to retain the present method being rejected by 4 to 3. Soma minor alterations were made in the competition ruloe. The amonnt to be spent on entertaining in connection with the New Zealand Championship Meeting was limited to £10. The Canterbury Centre wrote regretting that it was unable to subsoribo anything towards the cost of sending a team to Hob-art. The Wellington Centre expressed the option that the trip should !>e financed by the Council to the best of its ability. It was decided that the Council would vote a sum up to £78, at the rate of £13 per man, for a team of five men and a manager. Mr Green was appointed manager. Messrs Batchelor. Green, and Olliver vere appointed selectors. Mr Batche.lor was appointed judge f for the walking events and weight- c putting at the Championship Meeting. v Messrs Batchelor and Green wero s authorised to represent the Council at *' the Conference of Centres in Welling- J ton. !, It was decided that tHe Association should become a member of the Xew " Zealand Snorte Federation. Thn applications of C. l>. Fleming, ij O Morris. J. Turner, W. McKonny. ; T. F. Adams, and It. C. ttollitt, for £ reinstatement, were granted. Jiincs j Cartwright's application was declined, «, as ho was ineligible. The case of John McXair was referred to the Au«tril-| asian Union as special. . | c
