PIGEON FLYING.
a The Christchurch Homing Pigeon Society ('registered) flew off a very successful race frcra Upper Hntt on Saturday. The birds were liberated at 9 a.m. in fine weather snd with a nor'-east wind blowing, which enabled the hirds to put up fast velocities. Forty-nire birds were sent, representing twelve lofts. The winner wajj Mr W. McGorman's Silver Queen, "which traversed the distance of 217 miles 327 yards air line in shr lmin 22;ec. The following is the result:—J. McGorman's Silver Queen, 1238 yds per mm; F. Kingsford'a War.stead, 12SSvds; J. Seales's Pioneer, 126ovds; A. Ferrell's Taihape, 1258 yds; E. Fuchs's Royal Plumes. t257yd.»; M.
