There wa* a large attendance of spectators at the Eort Christchurch Amateur Swimming: Club's annual carnival held at the baths on Saturday, when some {rood racing was witnessed. The programme was a very full one, but tho different events were got off witn great promptness by the starter, Mr J. R. Buchanan. Tho various officials., especially the Press steward, Mr J. L. Partridge, carried out their duties most efficiently, and tbe carnival was a complete, success in every way. Details o! the various events are as follows:— MAIDEN HANDICAP, E2yds—First heat: E. A meeting of the committee of the Christchurch Amateur Swimming C?iub was held .on Friday. Present—Mr J. R. Buchanan (in. tho chair), Messrs P. Rund!.e, W. E. Km, G. Pottingor, P. Clark, J. Hodger, It. Pointon, and the secretary. Four new members were elected. Arrangements were made for the annual carnival to be held on January 18th.
