Ho was custodian of the PVestwick links for fourteen years, and year alter year there he engaged in great .struggle* with Jlobertson, Willie Dunn, an..l Willie I'ark. Tho last-named was his greatest rival. Aα timn wont on, the rivalry between the champions beoame more acute, and Olympian tussles for JLIOU a side served only to rau<p the loser to determine tr> fight it out agiiiti ;is early as may -he. When Tom went hack to .St. Andrews in 18G3 to tako charge of the links, the .struggles between_ Park and himself became a. fight for oivic superiority In/tween Mussolhurgh and the little Fife town; and lo;-a! feeling reached a temperature novi'r chroiricled even in the rivalries lwtn-epii Liverpool and Manchester. In one of tho famous Morri.s versus Park fights it was urged that a magistrate should bo ae-ked to attend for the purpose of reading the .Riot Act if necessary.
