AUCKLAND, December 23.
Rain, fell throughout training operations this morning, but the track* were in good order. Artillerie oavered six furlongs on the grass in lmin 23 4-sth Etc. Downfall ran once round on th« gra?s in good style in 2id in 2tec, while Bobrikoff covered four furlongi on the graes in 53 l-sth tree, and Dawn three furlongs on the rome trarJc in EOscc. Muskerry boat King Billy over five furlongs on the gTiss in lmin 6 1-oth sec. Aborigine finished in front of Separator over four fuTIcngs on the grass in 51 3-sth. Zimmerman, Master Del aval, and First Gun. finished jn that order over a similar distance, run in SOsec, while Moriarty took 50 4-sth sec, and Wherekura 63 2-olh sec. Apa covered a couple of rounds on the gross, the last being run in 2min 6 2-sth sec.

The Southland Racing Club his decided thai bookmakers shall bo licensed at a fee of £13 10b per day, and allowed to bet on any part of the Middling paddock or of the outside enclosures, but no bookmaker oclerk aball be Allowed on the grandstand or the lawn. Bookmakers shall be allowed one clerk each, provided that the clerk is not a bookmaker himself. The clerk shall not call the odde and he shall hand over his book when required by the «tewards o* the dub* official co 15 do. No bookmaker f&all be allowed to bet after the notified time of starting of each race.
