It is expected that Mr A, Crabbo, formerly in the New Zealand Veterinary Department, but now engaged in private practice in England, will be appointed to control the new system of meat inspection which the New Zealand Government proposes to inaugurate in I-ondon. From all accounts Mr Crabbo would be. an. excellent man. for tho position. . Ne-ws has been received from England that Mr D. M. Roes, who ha* already distinguished himself as a writer of short stories and verse in Sew Zealand and Australia, has had a volume of poetry accepted by a well-known lyondon publisher. Th'o book, entitled "The. Promise of the Star, ,, is expected in Nnv, Zealand shortly. There nro several changes in the .Magistracy pending. Mr Cruickshank U to go to Invercargill from Gore, and Mr Cuttcn, temporarily at Napier, will probably be transferred to Hamilton. Air Hutchit-on will probably take the Timaru district.
