WEST CHRISTCHURCH v. RICCARTON.
This match was commenced at Hag- ! ley; Pari, on Saturday. West Christchurch batted first, and opened their innings by sending Lusk and Whitta to the wickets. Each of th© batsmen had scored a couple when Anthony got a ball past Whitta, and ended his innirgs. Reese followed, and the total was carried to 72, when he met a similar fr.to to that of his predecessor. Cook filled tho gap, but before another single was added ho lifted one to Anthony, whioh was • accepted. Peake then took his place at the wicket and the score reached 148 before he skied' tho bail to Clarkcon. Fuller partnered Peake, but at 140 the latter's stumps were shattered by Humphreys. The next two wickets wero taken for 11 runs. Wilson and Arnold then made a good stand, and 46 were added before Wilson was .caught; tho score being 206 for eight wickets. Arnold was run out at 211, and tho last wicket was taken before another run was added. Anthony and E. Caygrll were tho pair selected to open Hiccarton's innings, but the scoring board only showed 6 when Anthon- was dismissed. Xoi«. man and Caygill, however, made amends apd the total stood at 80 before Norman was caught by Weston. Humphreys, who 6teppcd into tho breach, was similarly disposed of at 84.
