The engineer was instructed to reoort on Mr Armstrongs application for leave to erect a gate on the road between Blacks and Mcowall's, TVaihaorunga; also on .Ur £-. Opie's application for road <***»» a g° near his place in High street, Mr L Hannifin's application for road drainage on Hannifin's ro-id, and on the , TVaituna School Committee s applica- | tion for similar work near the school. Two caeos of infectious disease were reported by Dr. Pitts. It was resolved that a committee visit the proposed site of a bridge over tho Upper Pareora, near Mr Evans's. Mr Jarrow's complaint of cnttlo trespass near the Hook creamery was ret erred to tho ranger. Mr K. "White's tender of £llfi Os 6d, for metalling Caird's road, Pareora. and his tender of £06 Gs Bd, for work on the approaches to TVaihao bridge, were accepted. M. Tregoninss tender of £2 2s per 100 for dog collars was accepted. It was resolved that J the engineer take stops for constructing a platform bridge over Willowbridge creek crossing. Sir TV. Steward wrote, stating that the Uovernment had reinstated the 11 nexpcnded_ votes of last year, amounting to *_1907, and had granted £72" for expenditure on various works in the county. Mr Doutbwaite and other ratepayers were granted permission to erect telephone pt-les and wires to connect with the TVaihaorunga bureau, subject to the engineer's approval. Mr J. Manchester and nine TVaihao riding ratepayers waited on the Council to urge the work of Shearer's Hill road deviation, for which the Government promised a subsidy of £-500, should be carried out as soon as possible. It was resolved that a committee consult the Council's solicitor as to the acquisition of the ueces-ary land. Accounts for £2502 lis lOd were passed. At the annual meeting tho chairman stated he intended to retire from the chairmanship. Mr Rhode*, was elected in his place, and a vote of thanks waf accorded to the retiring chairman.
